This is my collection of non-DBZ
anime music videos. Several of these have been played
at anime conventions over the years, and even a few
have won some awards! Please don't pass them up just
because they're not DBZ music videos, and are big file
sizes. These are the works I am the most proud of. :)

As
usual, the quickie description comes first:
hardened, jaded girl hates boys, boy falls in
love with tough girl, girl rejects boy, boy
keeps trying and gets through to girl, girl
eventually falls for boy... yeah love! In a
way, this follows the main relationship in Kimagure
Orange Road, but at the same time, we somewhat
tinker with Madoka's character and motivations
in our video, as you will read later on in the
video description.
This is
one of our favorite collaborative videos to
date. We had a lot of fun telling this story.
We also enjoying using an anime that is (sadly)
underused. If we can get people interested in
KOR (and maybe even the band Something Corporate),
then we think we've done our job. We hope you
like this video, even if you haven't seen KOR!

Here’s
the quick description of this video: the song
is called “Walkie Talkie.” Sana
uses a walkie talkie in “Kodomo no Omocha.”
And she dances a lot. It's a crazy, fun dance
video!
The majority of
this video is Sana dancing and singing to the
music. The main challenge was trying to get
her to move TO the music. Needless to say, that
required quite a bit of editing. Since this
IS a video for the DDR Project, I wanted it
to be a little flashy, but mostly dancy and
just plain fun. There is also a little bit of
lip syncing, but not too much. Watch out for
the Akito bird, though! Also be on the look
out for my small tribute to Ian Roberts (AbsoluteDestiny).

This
is a story about the harsh sides of love. When
you fall in love, is it by your own free will,
or does it seem like some kind of outside force
is pushing you into it? That’s more or
less the story of this video (hence the title,
“Deceptive Passions.” It took me
FOREVER to think of a decent title…).
The main plot
of this video is that we see these two girls
in a number of relationships, but are they really
in love? Are the guys they’re involved
with just using them? That’s the main
point I wanted to get across.

Like
many of our music video ideas, this one came
to us when we least expected it. Mike and Meri
had not made a trailer since "The Professional,"
made less than a year earlier, and hoped to
make a new one at some point this year. Several
ideas floated between the two for many months,
and, as usual, nothing really clicked.
Then, one lazy
Sunday evening, Mike, Meri and Andrew "Deluxe"
(Mike roommate and star of Meri's "All-Purpose
DBZ Music Video") were enjoying some nice
"Adult Swim" on Cartoon Network. One
of the trio's favorite shows, "Sealab 2021,"
came on. It was an episode no one in the group
had seen before: an "Entertainment Tonight"-type
episode, hyping up the summer release of a movie
starring the Sealab crew. At the end of the
episode, a trailer for the fake movie "Tinfins"
finally appeared. We were hooked by the first
line: "would you put your brain in a robot
body?" Not only was this a tribute to an
older "Sealab 2021" episode from the
first season, but Meri and Mike seemingly read
each other's mind the instant the trailer began:
this has to be done to "Evangelion."

This video is part of
the Jet
Set Radio AMV Project. |
|
This video is
the first track in the "Jet Set Radio"
Anime Music Video Project. Similar to other
multi-editor projects, various songs in this
megamix have been spliced together and transition
from one another into different videos by different
editors. This is why the video has such an abrupt
end.
So, with the name of the song
in mind (being Sweet Soul Brother), I had to
obviously pick something to go with the theme
of being a babed out sweet soul brother daddy
pimp kinda guy. My first inclination was to
pick an anime with blantant ladies men in them,
but I figured, meh, that would be too easy.
I realized then that I had the first three DVDs
of Kare Kano (or "His and Her Circumstances")
lying around doing nothing, and I remembered
the two main male characters of Arima and Asaba.
Arima is more of the "perfect guy"
who can do no wrong, and is oh-so-very clean
ut and dreamy. The second male, Asaba, is much
more of the self-absorbed, yes-I-know-I'm-sexy
type of guy. The two made for a nice clash in
this video. The only thing resembling a story
in this video is Yukino Miyazawa swooning over
Arima, and Asaba making an ass out of himself.

This
is a re-edit of a music video I made in 2001.
This video highlights the feminine wackiness
that is Faye and Ed from Cowboy Bebop. While
most Bebop character-based videos are serious
(and that is by no means a bad thing), I wanted
to take a lighthearted look at this anime's
leading ladies, and how they drive Spike nuts.
The first half
of the video focuses on Faye (the "beautiful
one"), while the second half switches to
Ed (the "younger one"). Some parts
in this video are a bit of a stretch, such as
making it look like Faye thinks men are all
about her. Then again... that's not much a stretch.
OK, the Ed stuff was a lot harder, but that's
part of the fun, making it look like Ed is all
about using guys. Even so, I think the result
is more or less fun.

Fans of "Rurouni
Kenshin" will know how tortured of a soul
Kenshin is. Back in his days as the "Hitokiri
Battousai," he meticulously and effeciently
murdered for his government, not thinking about
the consequences for those he killed. When he
killed the wrong person (Tomoe), he finally
began to clearly see exactly what it is he was
doing and causing in the world around him. With
the coming of the Meiji Restoration, Kenshin
gave up his ways, and completely abandoned his
role as the "Hitokiri Battousai."
Feeling such an incredible deal of remorse for
those he killed in the past, Kenshin began to
walk down the path of redemption; by saving
others, he would atone for the deaths he had
caused in his past.

Last
year, I started watching the anime and reading
the manga of "Chobits." I found it
a light and cute and enjoyable show, and I definitely
wanted to work with the anime somehow. One of
the most memorable and amusing aspects of the
series is Chii and the "pantsu" episode
(or for that matter, all of the moderate fan
service in general). I figured "hey, that
could be a fun video, making fun of all the
underwear jokes and fan service in Chobits.
But that would only 30 seconds funny."
30 seconds funny? Hey, I've got a MiniVid idea
on my hands!
Story is... Chii's
a dumb blonde robot with an apparent inability
and/or desire to find and/or wear underwear.
Simple, yes, but that's why this is a short
video. That idea can only take me so far, ya
know? The video starts off with Hideki finding
the robot (known as a "Persocom" in
the anime) in the trash, and once he brings
this scantily clad lass home, he learns that
she isn't wearing any panties! After this, Chii
goes on her trek around town to find underwear.
By the time she has underwear, she doesn't know
what to do with them, and well... you'll have
to watch the video to find out what happens
in the end. :P
